Welcome

Broughton Gifford Pre School is based in an idyllic village location in the village of Broughton Gifford which is 2 miles from Melksham.  Set in a purpose build wooden lodge with a secure play area in the grounds of St Mary’s Primary School it provides care and education for children aged between 2 and 5 years, and helps to prepare your child for the important step to school.

The Preschool provides a relaxed and fun atmosphere with a wide range of activities and resources for the children and they are free to create, learn and explore.  We believe that our setting is a place where young children can develop naturally at their own pace and enjoy rich and varied activities and new opportunities. We plan in the moment to meet the individual needs of child and have a balance of free-play where children are able to move freely between the different areas of pre-school (indoors and outdoors) and adult-led activities which are more structured and help children extend their levels of concentration and gain more understanding of a particular area to fulfil their next steps.

Children have access to a variety of activities throughout the day from plenty of open ended resources to construction play, mark making, malleable play, arts and craft to puzzles and books. Children learn numbers and the alphabet in the context of their everyday experiences. We make the most of our rural setting by getting out and about in the school’s wood, the village and surrounding countryside so the children can learn about the natural world of plants and animals.
